My lucky day

My mood is very good today. The weather is nice. It was a rainy morning and most importantly I was very lucky. I'll explain why.

Luckily, today I asked daddy to go to Mines, coz I told him I have something to hunt for...ahem ahem....a pair of boots for my trip to Germany! Luckily, I told daddy I wanted to withdraw money from the Maybank ATM machine. Luckily, I stood behind that lady in the queue at the machine. Because of that, I had an extra RM150 to spend!

Well, the lady in front of me actually forgot to take the money that she withdrew from the machine. I was standing behind her and when she left, I automatically step in front and wanted to slot in my bankcard. And that's when I noticed the machine kept on beeping. Then I saw the notes. But when I turned around to spot the lady. She had already walked far away, almost lost from my sight. I couldn't just walked away like that and lost my queue which could resulted that I have to queue again. And, frankly...she walked too quick and very far away from my sight, I barely recognized who even though I chose to ran after her. Besides, she did not return to picked up what she had left behind even after I spent my sweet time at the machine withdrawing money or else, I would definitely returned it to her.

So, out of luck, I pocketed the money. Daddy told me, it's my luck because if I didn't take the money, other people will anyway. Or if I'm not the person queuing behind that lady, whoever queued behind her would have got it instead of me. So, I told daddy, since got people belanja, let's go for a nice meal. So, daddy picked a restaurant that we will definitely not go (if we have to fork out ourselves..hehe) because the food is too expensive. It's a herbal restaurant which they serve dishes with a taste of herbs. Daddy got himself a stew duck noodle which excellent herbal soup base. Lunz got himself mushroom noodles and I got myself, bird nest soup!

Haha...we still left money after the meal, so we went shopping. Daddy took Lunz to feed the fishes in the pond while I hunt for my boots. So, in the end our purchases are a pair of coffee colored ankle height boots from ELEMENTS for me, cotton pillow and 2 boxes of ciggy for daddy and a box of mouth-watering doughnuts from Big Apples for Lunlun. I wanted to get Lunz a bedside lamp but it was nearly 2pm by the time I bought all those. So, I left that out first.

We got ourselves presents and a nice meal, all sponsored by someone else. We told ourselves, if we don't take it, other people will and besides that lady never came back for it while we were still there. So, maybe today is actually really my lucky day and also a lesson learnt as well.

Must always take your cash after you take your bankcard.

The Flu

My company has one confirmed H1N1 case which puts the entire company to shut down its operation for one day, which was last Friday. The whole office was fumigated and we got a day off. A day before which was on Thursday, all if us were busy working when one of the admin staff handed over masks to all the staff and allocated hand sanitizers at each division. It was a complete panic and madness when we discovered the truth behind it. One of the accounts staff was confirmed with H1N1. So, both TheBlueRanger and I went out immediately to get our flu jab. As we could not get the supplies from clinics (they ran out of stock), we had to get it from hospital instead.

But even with hospitals, they could ran out of stock too. With luck, we managed to get it at the Pantai Cheras. I was informed that Gleneagles and Pantai Ampang were out of stock already. We wanted to get the jab since we knew about H1N1 and when we knew we had to travel by next month. The thing was it wasn't that scary when it was not so near, so we kept on delaying in getting the jab. When we got a case landed on our own floor, just meters away from where we sit, can you imagine all the panicking emotions growing within us? I managed to get daddy to bring Lunz to the hospital for the jab as well. I know that the jab is not 100% protected against the H1N1 flu but at least it can provide maybe 50% of protection against the flu. At least it built up your immune system to be more resistant to flu. The vaccine for the swine flu is only available by end of this year.

Even if the jab is not against the H1N1, the supply is already very scarce as people regardless of whether they are in the high risk or low risk group seems to be getting it. So, I can't imagine if they have vaccines for this one. Once the vaccine is available in the market, sure will kena sapu habis-habis. We will see by year end.

I managed to stock up my supplement supplies. Bought bottles of vitamin C and Scott Emulsion's fish oil for Lunz. I bought the orange flavor as I guessed the little one will not take the original flavor. But it's better than nothing anyway. So, he takes it twice a day, a spoonful. So far, he was ok after the jab, just a little bit of cough (*touch wood*). Maybe he got it from me. I was having some slight throat discomfort and I went to see a doctor today. According to his advice, he told me it is better to get the flu jab every year and trust him, it does make a difference. When you take it every year, your body will build a resistant towards flu. So, the chances of you getting it (the new swine flu) is not as high as those who doesn't take the jab or maybe if you do get the flu, you are not as sick as those who doesn't take the jab.

So, I will have to remember to take the jab again next year, all of us.

It's All About Work

I realize I haven't been updating a single post for August 2009. Here I am, honored to blog on the first post for the month of August. Guess all my readers are constantly asking why my blog was ignored and not updated. This is because I am so loaded up with work. Apart from working on my own projects, I have to take up other people's shit also just because she commented she had to focus on her own "claim" priority project and my boss seems to buy it. So, whatever the not necessaries were dumped to me and my other colleague. I managed to get it done however but it took a bit of my attention away from the current project I'm working on. It's not fair because by the time I had my time back to focus on my own project, I realize I had time wasted. My time is running short now and there are still some urgent arrangements that needed to be sorted out.

Fortunately, I have very helpful and sincere colleagues or shall I call them my senior sisters (Si jeh). They provided me with lots of advices and solutions. Maklumlah, they have plenty of experiences than me when it comes to deal with such situation. I'm thankful to have wonderful and most of all sincere when it comes to help si jehs. By end of today, I managed to untie the knots and get the thing done.

I'm much relax now. Actually the project I'm working on is a mission to Germany this coming September. It's just 2 weeks away. I'm so occupied with the thrown-in project from other people's hand that it took up most of my time. Hence, I'm rushing things at last minutes. But fortunately, it went smooth finally. Little bit of things left on my checklist that needed to be done but I think are quite manageable.

One of them is to get a flu jab before I leave for the trip. This is crazy as every clinic I happened to call told me they ran out of stock. I was advised by Lun's Paed to seek the jab from hospitals instead where the supplies are sufficient. I took the opportunity to inquire about Lun's jab as well. The paed. told me he doesn't keep stock but will source for it if he feels that it is necessary for his patients. He told me it looks unprofessional for him to keep the flu jab stock because he believes people will be coming to him and flood his clinic if they know he is keeping stock. These people will take the jab regardless whether or not they are in the high risk group or if they really need it. Then I asked his opinion on whether it is necessary for my son since he is considered among the high risk people because of his asthmatic background.

He told me if other patients that does not falls in this category, he will advised them not to get the jab but since Lunz has asthma, it is better to take it. He will try to source for me but he told me it will takes around 2 weeks to a month to obtain the supply. He even warned me that this flu jab has to be taken yearly unlike other jabs that you just take once in your lifetime. This flu jab only covers the strain of 2008 and below. There is still no vaccine yet for 2009, which I'm already aware, thanks to my walking news reporter at home. I hardly read news, that's why. Hehehe...Which means we have to come back next year and take the new strain of vaccine again. He told me the current vaccine will not provide 100% protection but at least it will help a bit. Just like wearing a seatbelt when you are driving. It's safe but doesn't mean that when accident happens you will not be injured. It's the same theory.

So, I will have to wait for Lunz flu jab supply and meanwhile crack my head thinking on how to get my jab before my trip. I'm lazy to go hospitals but I guess I have no choice.

By the way, just an update on the little one....

1. He knows how to count from 1 to 100, not missing every number.
2. His room is almost done. Wait till I post the photos.
3. Always nod his head when he sees us shaking our heads, hoping that we will agree with him instead.
4. Knows how to sing, "the more we get together, together, together....the merrier will be" song.
5. Increase appetite that I noticed he has grown fatter and fatter.
6. Understands what "mummy outstation working" means when he sees that I do not pick him up by time.
7. Still loves to read-his passion.

That's about it, I guess. A bit sleepy now...gotta go...ta ta...
