He Goes to Bed by Himself Now

As daddy always says to me, "You have to train him to sleep by himself so that he wouldn't come looking for you in the middle of the night. You have to let him grow up and learn to be independant and sleeping by himself is one of the ways". Well, well....his words never entered seriously into my brain because I always prefer to accompany him to bed so that he will fall asleep faster and I can have more of my own free time after he has gone to bed. Plus, at the end of the day, I always have separation anxiety with my boy. That's why I prefer to stay with him until I'm sure and comfortable knowing that he has fallen asleep. But in this way, I always ended up with him coming over to our room looking for me in the middle of the night (sometimes a few times a night) because he wakes up occasionally only to find me missing from his room. Unless I sleep with him throughout the night, or else I will have sleepless nights because I keep on getting up whenever he comes over to our room. I'm used to this routine of accompanying him to bed and going over to his room to sleep in the middle of the night if he comes over to find me, until recently......

I really really got so tired 2 weeks ago. Every single day during that week, I was really very weak and tired. So I decided once and for all to train him to sleep independantly. It's a little hard at the beginning as he kept on checking to make sure I was there. Of course, I told him during bedtime that mummy will be in mummy's room and you have to sleep by yourself. As usual, he asked me to sleep with him but I firmly said NO. But at the same time I convinced him by telling him that I will be next door, nearby to him. Communication is important. You have to let him know that he has to learn to sleep by himself and at the same time you are just nearby and that he is not alone.

2 weeks has gone and he has been sleeping by his own since. Of course, I'll make it more easier by reading him a book and daddy always play with him before bedtime. I even sing songs to him, give him a kiss and wish him goodnight without fail every night before I departed from his room. And I always left both doors of the rooms ajar. This way, he feels secure knowing that I'm just nearby. Now, the frequency of him coming to look for me in the middle of the night has reduced. Most of the time, he sleeps through the night. This I believe has improved both his and my sleeping conditions. Both of us have less disturbed sleeps. I know daddy must be saying that we should have started this earlier, right? :P

Birthday (again!) & Toy Story Craze

Lunz's actual date of birth was last Thursday (17 June) and although we have celebrated it with him earlier as per my recent post, I decided to get him a small cake anyhow. So, I dropped by Tong Kee Bakery after work on my way home and got him a mini mango mousse cake. We brought him to Mines for a short walk and later had a cake blowing session.

The mango mousse cake.

Posing after blowing the cake.

Then he ignored us....too busy addicted to Toy Story.

Talking about his latest craze, Toy Story. He likes Toy Story so much that daddy and mummy decided to sacrifice some $$$ to get him his favorite toy.

Buzz Lightyear!

Both daddy and I bought it in Jusco and later gave him as a surprise.....

He was so happy with the toy that he took it along with him where ever he goes, i.e., shopping, sleeping, etc.....and kept on killing us with the red laser light from Buzz's arm! Ouch!! ;P

Happily holding his Buzz!

We intend to bring him for Toy Story 3 in cinema soon. This will be our first attempt to try it out. We don't know what will be his reaction but we have to try nevertheless. Never try, never know. The worst will just cost us the movie tickets but hopefully all the brainwash efforts will have a fruitful result. Ohhh....come on boy...be good and let mummy and daddy enjoy some good movie time ya!

After much persuasion, finally brave enough to take photo with the Toy Story characters @ TGV Jusco Cheras Selatan.

Lunz 5th Birthday Celebration

Wow.....I was going like whirl wind! Updating 5 posts in one day. This shall be the last one for today. Gotta get back to work. In this post, I shall blog about my baby's 5th birthday. Time is really fast. He is now 5 years old and having him around is full of fun and laughter everyday. Baby....mummy and daddy loves you!

As his birthday falls on next Thursday, we decided to have the party yesterday (Sunday) instead. Nothing special as it is almost the same every year, I meant the celebration. We bought KFC, pizza, soft drinks and cake for the crowd. But I think to the little one, it meant a lot. Party time--->play time---> fun time!

Present, present. He kept on telling me he wanna open them. I have to repeat many times to him that he can only open them at night after blowing the cake.

The three of them played like mad. Sweat until their clothing and hair were total soaked!

He looks so cute in this photo.

Busy putting on the candles. Bought the brownies walnut from Secret Recipe.

And here are his presents......

He likes this Toy Story pencil case a lot. But when I asked him whether he want to watch the movie, he said don't want pulak. Dunno why he is so scare.

Both daddy and I got him a white board and a set of whiteboard multi-colours marker.

Set of colour markers and duster.

I asked him to look in front and pose for me while I took a snap of him.

Aren't you one of the happiest boy on earth? :)

Studio Photoshooting

Both daddy and I went for studio photoshooting the following day after our ROM. Warning---> Do not ever perform 2 tedious tasks continuously for 2 straight consecutive days or you will tired yourself out!

I was drop dead tired after the photoshooting. Really loosing my stamina now a days. Below are some shots taken with ipong in the studio.

We went to select our photos last Saturday. It was also another difficult part. Photo selecting. We spent 3 hours at the bridal studio filtering the photos. From 200 over copies down to 21 copies. As usual the people there will asked you to add albums, do designs, take bigger frame for the "cheong tau siong" la, bla bla bla.....

In the end, I guessed the fella a bit fed-up talking to us already as we showed no interest and expressionless on what he was trying to hard sell. Haha.....

But overall, we still managed to sort out 21 copies of gorgeous photos. I can only get the album in August. Until then!

Drum as a Gift for his Good Academic Results

Lunz is having his mid semester holiday now, for 2 weeks. Before the school holidays started, parents have to attend the parents-teachers day meeting at his school. You know, just to brief you on the child's academic and social development and his exam results. The teacher told me, Lunz was doing very good academically. In fact, just 10 minutes after the exam started he has already finished his paper. He even taught his friends who sat next to him on how to do the exam sheets. According to the teacher, Lunz saw his friend filled in the answer wrongly and told his friend, "No, wrong dy" and wrote the correct answers for his friend.

His teacher asked him not to do so and to sit down quietly. But the next moment she looked away, he was back to correcting his friend again. So his teacher asked him to sit at the corner, far away from the rest of the children. At first, he thought that his teacher was punishing him for not obeying her instruction but the teacher explained to me that she told Lunz she was not actually punishing him. She was just asking him to sit at one corner so that he wouldn't interrupt the other children who were still undergoing the test. Then, I asked the teacher, does he know what you are trying to tell him and that you are not actually punishing him? The teacher told me Lunz nodded wor. She said he understands. So cute.

As he got 'A's for all his exam papers, we got him a drum as a gift!

Wedding Gifts from Beloved Friends & Family - Part 2

As a continuance from the previous post, here are the additional gifts I got on my ROM day....

A bouquet of lovely daisies from second aunt, Aunt Mag.

Wedding deco from Mei and Jag (the photographer). Jag gave us a glow-in-the-dark condom with the warning "Caution: Things that glow in the dark may appear to be larger" written on the packaging. Guessed what? We don't intend to use as it was supposed to be remembrance gift.

A pair of gold rings from my parents. Silly mum, daddy gave her not even a huge sum of money but she used it to buy gold rings for us. She told me, the rings will remind us of her later when she is no longer around. I'm wearing it now together with my wedding band and I'm not going to take it off for as long as I live.

Body shop toiletries from Aunt Mag.

Thanks guys! For all the wonderful gifts.....

Register of Marriage

I took a week off from office for my ROM. I was drop dead busy preparing for the BIG DAY. I spring-cleaned the entire house and on the day before the BIG DAY, I got ready a list of things to be done:

1. Brought the car for wash and vacuum.
2. Daddy bought a hand bouquet for me that looked like this....

Lovely ehh? Cost 80 bucks! Now hanging upside down to dry. Not gonna throw it away as this was the first bouquet of flowers that daddy bought for me.

3. Prepared and filled in the angpows with $$$$.
4. Ironed my gown and daddy's shirt.
5. Prepared my wedding handbag.
6. Prepared my wedding shoes.
7. Took out all the jewelries and hair accessories that I'm going to wear.
8. Pedicure.
9. Manicure.
10. Charge the camera.
11. Bla bla bla....

I can't really sleep that night and had lil' eye bags the next morning. Woke up at 6am and did my eye mask. Haha. At least it helped to sooth the eye bags a bit. Daddy's side of the family promised to gather at our house by 8.30am, hence, I got to be ready before 8.30am. Took a quick bath and by the time I was done, daddy woke up. I quickly proceed to apply make up and waited until it was time to change into the gown. I can't be walking the entire house in the gown. It would be too troublesome and hot. So, I waited until the guests almost arrived before I finally changed into the gown.

Lunz woke up with a drowsy look. It was daddy who noticed he had a hot forehead---->downed with fever! Yesterday he was still fine but on this very BIG DAY he developed fever, my gosh, the poor boy. We can't just leave him behind as there was nobody to look after him nor we can't canceled our schedule. Without wasting time, I quickly gave him the fever syrup to bring down the temperature. We had to drag him along anyhow and can only take him to the doctor when the ceremony has ended and that would have to be in the afternoon. I packed a few of his clothing, water bottle, fever syrup and his favourite blanket for him to rest in the car.

When I had changed him and myself, it was just about the right time because I heard daddy's side of families had arrived. We left for Putrajaya and reached the place about 9.30am. I was greeted by mum and brothers as well as their families. They waited for me there. Not to mention my friends too! Some of them even brought gifts for me. Poor Lunz, he was moody all the time because of the fever but he was a very good boy. He did not threw a single tantrum. I'm very proud of him. I knew I had to bring him to the doctor immediately after all this has ended. So far, his temperature was under controlled and mum looked after him while I took photos and during the moments when I signed the marriage certificates.

Took our number and waited for our turn. We took some photos while waiting.

With my 2 very close friends, Mei and Sellina, who were able to attend my ceremony.

With my brothers and nephew.

With mum and dad. Love you guys! Am really touched you both made it.

With daddy's side of family.

With second aunt, cousin Sharon and younger bro's wife in white dress.

With gorgeous sister Sellina who was able to make it last minute. She remembered my ROM date wrongly and luckily her boss granted her the last minute half day leave.

With the boy and lovely flower girl. Poor boy, sick but still managed to pose so yau yeng!

Full view of the gown. Thanks to my colleagues in MTC for the lovely gown. You guys completed my day.

Then, it was our turn to go into the ceremony room.....

Exchanged our vows and said the big I DO!

Exchanged our wedding bands.

Ta-da! It's official! We got a loud round of applause from the guest.
Neh....my brothers started it.

Honestly, the ceremony room was pretty well decorated. You can take a lot of nice photos inside the room.

We went for lunch afterward and performed the tea serving ceremony later after lunch. It was almost 3pm when we finally took Lunz to the doctor. The doctor confirmed it was a throat infection. He slept for 3 hours after he took his medication. I guessed he was really really tired and sick and I can't help but felt so guilty and sorry to him. He was such a good boy on that day and I felt truly blessed to have them both in my life. :)
