Happy New Year 2009

We did some house cleaning last Monday. It was actually a public holiday on Monday (29 December 2008), so we took the opportunity to clean up the storeroom downstairs. The idea was we wanted to shift the dog's home to the corner space behind the pillar in the living room. By this way, the whole connecting area between the dining room and the living room where they used to placed the dog previously will look tidier. This time, without the obvious dog's mess and smell.

The corner space was a perfect spot as it was a hidden space. You wouldn't noticed so much if the place was a mess. Completely a perfect place to put the dog even though it would be more perfect to put it outdoor. Once you opened the door of the main entrance, the corner was perfectly hidden behind the door itself. Although the area was hidden, it was quite spacious. That also had a disadvantage of its own. There were tendencies to place more and more stuffs or rubbish on that area, if, we have not made up the decision to fully utilized that spot for the dog.

But first, we need to empty that area to put the dog's home there. To make way for that, the wooden table and chairs from that area must be dismantled and stored away properly. And the only place to store the furniture was the storeroom underneath the stairs. So, both daddy and I spent the whole morning sorting out the wanted and unwanted stuffs found in the storeroom. Luckily Lunz was extremely well behaved and played by his own. He did not throw any tantrums because he practically understands by now that we are doing some serious stuffs here---> cleaning! When everything were nicely placed back into the storeroom, the whole living and dining area were such a mess. So, I had to sweep and mop the floor while daddy built the new home for the dog. The dog's new home covered an area of 1 x 2 meters, almost half of the space available on that area. It was fenced around with steel gate. A good thing to stop the dog from wandering around the house and pissing everywhere while nobody is around.

That was the thing that got on to my nerves. The floor was dirtied in just a single day after I mopped it in the morning. By the same evening, you can already see the oily stains and dirts on the floor. This was due to they let the dog wandered freely and it likes to piss everywhere even though it was already being toilet trained earlier. That's the reason why the floor was dirtied easily, the dog's feet stained with pee wandering around and human practically stepped on it. So, it all happened that daddy can't stand the oily floor and decided to mop it on the day he was on leave. That was where the plan to re-locate the dog's home popped up because he finally saw the whole picture and experienced it (because normally I was the one who mop the floor).

It was about 2pm when we were done, both the storeroom and the dog's home. My tummy was growling like mad due to hunger. We did not had anything in the morning when we started all these. I told daddy that next time if we intend to do some hardcore cleaning, you did better feed me with some food first. When we finished lunch, we headed down to the living room to build and decorate the Christmas tree. I finally have my very own Christmas tree! We found the nicely wrapped package containing the tree and the decorations in the store while cleaning it. We placed the tree at the empty space where the dog's home was there few hours ago. Hehehehe....with such a new clean area, a Christmas tree was the most suitable decoration to be placed there.

With Lunz's help, we decorated the tree and put some lightings on it. The result was amazing. The tree looked beautiful with the lightings on it. Lunz was extremely excited and jumped up and down whenever the lightings blinked. We can now sit on the newly clean and shiny mopped floor while enjoying the view of the tree. The whole area was very tidy now and the cleanliness of the floor can at least lasted for 3 days before it is dirtied again. Unlike previously, the floor was already dirtied on the same day it was mopped. This proves that locking up the dog when nobody around was indeed a very right choice. I can't be any happier to see the household so clean.

Yeah...I knew we set up the tree late because Christmas has just passed few days back but I think Christmases are in our hearts and when and where are not important. Seeing the beautifully lit up tree, it was a reward for our cleaning efforts and Lunz well behaved attitude while we were cleaning ;)

Happy New Year 2009, everybody!
